After completing the day 1 of company visit, all delegates continued to the day 2 of companies visit on 22nd November 2016. With the consideration of limited time, the delegates group also remained as visiting 3 companies per day which included of Rakuten, Interspace & GMO Internet.
The visiting time of Rakuten was total spent 2 hours and the branch that groups visited was the headquarter of Rakuten which located at Setagaya-Ku, Tokyo. Upon arrived that time, the staffs of Rakuten split delegates into the different few groups to do the office visit within 30mins time. As you can check from their website, Rakuten HQ is designed by humanity and with the innovative spirit, they provide good facilities and food offering to all their staffs without extra charges every day in the food court of Rakuten.
The sharing session was conducted in the conference room which faces with the Fuji-Mountain view and by attending the sharing session from Rakuten, you can understand how’s the giant of E-commerce in Asia doing their best to expanding the global market. From IA side, EasyParcel and ClickAsia have presented about their business and services to all. Both of these 2 companies also founded in 2 years only and now EasyParcel already expanded their business into Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand.
The second visiting company was Interspace. Interspace is an experienced online marketing agency in Japan, they shared a lot of insightful thoughts and analysis data about the online marketing in Japan and also their thoughts toward to ASEAN’s Market. Head of Business Development of Malaysiakini – Ms Chia Ting Ting has shared her insights about the Online media in Malaysia and CEO of Cari Internet – Mr Liew also shared about the challenges and opportunities regarding of online media in Malaysia.
The last company that has visited by the group was the GMO Internet. The management team of GMO Internet has attended the sharing session. Which included COO of GMO Internet – Mr Hiroyuki Nishiyama, Head of Group Infrastructure Division of GMO Internet – Tadashi Itoh, CEO of GMO Registry – Hiro Tsukahara.
Basically, they have covered three key parts about GMO Internet Group. First, Introduction of GMO Internet group. Second, the Japanese E-commerce market and their Ecommerce solution. The third part was the approach to SEA market of GMO internet group. The interesting part during the sharing session was the CEO of GMO Registry – Hiro Tsukahara, he has shared about the domain for commerce – .shop. GMO Internet acquired .shop for 41.5m USD and competing with companies like Amazon, Google and JD.com. This showed that GMO Internet is believing the potential growth of E-commerce in the near future and one of our IA delegate – TK Tan who is the CEO of Qinetics Solutions Sdn Bhd also resell the domain of .shop for worldwide. The one of the largest hosting company in Malaysia – AIMS by TIME Company has completed the presentation to all as the perfect ending to the day.
The IA World Exploration Trip 2016 at Japan, Tokyo definitely has given the memorable experiences and eye-opening for all the delegates from Malaysia. Committee team of Internet Alliance will keep organising the business trip for all IA members by yearly, it’s because the committee team strives to provide more opportunities to all the IA members with minimum cost needed. For this trip, Internet Alliance allows to subside RM3000 per member registered / company, Committee team still hopes that will have more IA members looking forward to join the annual trip just like this year.
